Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Our Vision

Diversity in Morrisons is being proud to have a diverse group of colleagues working here and making sure we continue to celebrate everyone for who they are. We want all of our colleagues to feel valued in an environment where we promote respect, where they feel a sense of belonging and they feel celebrated as individuals, where the moments that matter to them matter to us too.

Equity
in Morrisons is taking into consideration a person’s unique circumstances, recognising that we do not all start from the same place and must acknowledge and make adjustments to any imbalances to achieve equality.

Inclusion
in Morrisons is about everyone feeling valued and having a sense of belonging in a team that really cares about them.

Our Priorities

What’s important to us is that every colleague in every job at every location feels valued and welcomed. We think it’s  one of the big reasons to be part of our team. To make sure it happens, we’ve created 5 priorities for DE&I that we promise we’ll always stick to.

Representation - a workforce that’s diverse at every level and reflective of the communities we serve

Measurement, data and insight - understanding our communities, colleagues and suppliers through data to focus our interventions

Closer to customers and our local communities - adapting to support the needs of our communities and customers

Creating a culture of accountability and trust - zero tolerance of discrimination

Learning and education - making inclusive thinking and leadership the norm through personal and team development

This is just the beginning

We want Morrisons to be a place where you can be yourself, and feel like you have a real sense of belonging. And we encourage the kind of behaviours that make it possible - like building confidence around starting up conversations around important subjects like gender, ethnicity, disability, race, religion and more.

One of the best things about working with so many different colleagues is having the opportunity to listen, learn, and connect with lots of different views, perspectives and beliefs. So, we make sure we have everything we need to help us connect with the people we work with on and offline. Whether it’s a meeting, a quick chat, a check in, or just to say “hi”, share knowledge and inspiration, swap stories, and more.

We also take a zero tolerance approach when it comes to standing up, speaking up, and challenging discrimination of any kind.

And we’ll always keep moving in the right direction, learning how to better understand each other, and becoming stronger as we do it.

This is just the beginning of our journey.

Remi speaking at Grocery Aid event

Morrisons CEO Rami becomes GroceryAid President

"I was honoured to be asked to take on the role of GroceryAid President and delighted to accept this important position.

GroceryAid does vital work to help colleagues across the grocery industry who have fallen on hard times. This includes financial grants, practical and legal advice, and a confidential helpline for those looking for emotional support. During my two years as President I will build on the great work of my predecessors and devote my energy to raising awareness and funds so more grocery workers get the help they need.

I will also champion GroceryAid's D&I programme. Accelerating a truly diverse and inclusive grocery industry is an agenda close to my heart which will benefit not only our workforce but the customers we serve."
