Learning & Development
Learning and development is at the heart of our business
As you can imagine, Morrisons is a busy place to be. There’s lots going on - processes, changes, new initiatives, different ways of working. And that’s just on a Monday morning.
With so much happening, there's a lot to learn. But learning isn’t just about understanding what’s involved in day-to-day workloads; it's about how we can all grow, develop, and better serve our customers too. After all, delivering the best possible experience to our customers is at the core of everything we do. That's why we've put learning and development at the heart of our business. We're here to make sure everyone has the tools, skills, and support they need to be their best - whether that's in their role today or as they move forward in their career.

What’s on offer?
Whether you’re looking to build a new career from scratch, or you’d like to develop fresh skills in your existing role, or you’d like to move further up the ladder you’re already climbing, you’ll find something for you right here at Morrisons.
We’re big on internal promotions, and there are lots of opportunities to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into different kinds of jobs. Many of our courses and programmes also include formal training and recognised qualifications like Apprenticeships, Degree Apprenticeships and more.
So when we say we have an almost unlimited choice of career paths, we really mean it.

Sir Ken Morrison Leadership School
We announced our Ken Morrison Leadership School as part of our 125th anniversary celebrations. The school builds on Sir Ken’s innovative and hard-working spirit, and is designed to help any colleague who has what it takes to progress.
It’s available to everyone, everywhere, and colleagues who meet our entry criteria and pass initial assessment can join the programme.
It’s a six month programme, and we run three cohorts a year in September, January and April. Each cohort consists of up to six classes in leadership and technical theory relative to the level colleagues are working towards, together with practical applications and business relevant projects. All followed by an interview, a presentation on their project, and an assessment.
At the end of the programme, colleagues move to the next work level as soon as there’s an opportunity. But not before we’ve celebrated each cohort with a Graduation event!

Learn at your own pace
If you enjoy learning at your own pace, there’s a huge selection of on demand learning that all colleagues can access through our digital learning platform, called My Learning. Here, you’ll find courses on project management hints and tips on wellbeing, and almost everything in between.
