National Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme

Myton Food Group is the part of the business that looks after manufacturing. We are already the UK’s 2nd largest fresh food manufacturer with 19 sites across the country. It's pretty exciting, especially when it’s our job to make good things happen for millions of customers every week.
We love nothing more than providing top quality food to our customers with the freshest produce from flowers, fish and veg to burgers and bread.
But we couldn’t do any of this without our engineers. They make it possible for us to achieve some incredible things like packing thousands of blueberries every day and baking millions of loaves of bread every week.
Our engineering team keeps our production lines running smoothly at our manufacturing sites across the UK. They use their technical skills to continually improve our machinery which enables us to provide our customers with products.

What our 3-year programme involves
This is a great place to develop your technical skills and learn to become a multi-skilled maintenance engineer in the fast-paced world of food manufacturing.
Learning on-the-job at the heart of the action, you’ll gain a full understanding of Mechanical and Electrical engineering maintenance alongside food safety, compliance and processing procedures.
Also working alongside our Multi-Skilled Engineers, you’ll make sure our equipment performs at its best so we can manufacture a huge range of products. You’ll help investigate ways of improving plant productivity and the causes of any breakdowns. And you’ll help make sure that recurrent faults are spotted, too.

You'll spend time away at Midland Group Training Services in Redditch on a block release basis over the course of the 3 years. That means staying away from home in college accommodation for a maximum of 20 weeks at a time.
As part of the apprenticeship you’ll also attend an Outward Bound residential development week, too. Here, you'll gain confidence as it encourages you to push yourself outside of your comfort zone.
What you’ll study towards
City & Guilds Level 3 in Food & Drink Engineering Maintenance.
What you’ll need
Recently achieved or be predicted a GCSE Level 6 in Maths, Level 4 in Science and Level 4 in English.
