Development that adds up

We want everyone here to grow and be the best they can be. In finance we offer all kinds of training, support and wider development opportunities to help our team achieve their potential.

Finance Development Group - Every month people from across finance get together to drive the people agenda across finance, continually looking to find ways to make being in the finance team as interesting and rewarding as it possibly can be. There are a  number of different aspects to this, with focus on areas such as ‘Your Say’, training & development, graduates, professional qualifications and business improvement.

Talent & Succession (T&S) - Our talent & succession team is a dedicated group of senior finance managers who help drive the succession agenda across finance. This group meets every week to manage recruitment of top talent, discuss current people matters and support the development of colleagues through at-level moves to other roles in finance and promotions.

Your Say - Here, the focus is on keeping everyone engaged and maintaining our great team spirit. Our ‘Your Say’ team listens hard and responds quickly to the thoughts of finance colleagues. They get to the heart of how our people feel and what improvements we can make through regular our employer surveys and listening sessions. On the back of this listening, the team create action plans to make improvements. Our ‘Your Say’ team also plan our regular ‘People Week’ events and manage lead on finance wide charity activities.

Professional qualification support - There are many aspects to training on offer  across finance - both soft skills and technical training. This training is aimed to  sit alongside the corporate wide training on offer at Morrisons - and, of course, on the job learning.. ‘Career coffees’ are held on a regular basis where a finance colleague, or a leader from elsewhere in the business business, informally chats about their career and answers questions. The team also facilitates a mentoring scheme where everybody in finance can get the support of a mentor in a more senior role, who they typically meet every six to eight weeks.

Career coffees - Once a month, you can drop into one of these 45-minute sessions where a finance colleague chats about their career and answers questions

Professional qualification - This team ensures our people get the right financial qualifications and support them with their studies and continuing professional development. We offer paid study leave and financial support with college and exam fees. We also manage training events with our partners and our relationships with CIMA and ACCA to maintain our accreditations.

Graduates and apprentices - We have a team which focuses on managing the  finance graduate and apprentice schemes. This team works to make sure that all our graduates and apprentices get a wide range of experiences from their different placements to give them the best possible opportunity to accelerate their careers.

People Week - Two or three times a year, 'People Week' encourages everyone in finance to think about their development and expand their network and understanding of our business. There are all kinds of activities. Visits to our manufacturing and logistics sites. Speed networking. Team meetings. Training sessions. And a finance fair, so you can find out what all our finance teams get up to.
