2020 has been a funny old year…that's a pretty huge understatement! Businesses large and small have had to improvise, adapt and overcome all kinds of hurdles that COVID has thrown in their way, including delivering on often years worth of digital plans in a matter of weeks.

So, in amongst all the craziness, I think we’ve all been looking for those little glimpses of normality and a bit of a breather from the everyday pace of work. So this week has been a lovely opportunity to do that, thanks to the Leeds Digital Festival.

With almost 300 hundred events spread across the week, the shift to a largely online festival piloted back in April has been a huge success and it’s been amazing to see people from across the region and indeed the world come together to talk about all aspects of digital in 2020.

And, that’s probably one of my favourite things about it, there’s a really democratic approach to having Sponsors help fund the festival, but almost anyone being able to put forward a proposal for the event. 

So if you’re interested in data science or AI or something related to your day to day work then you’ll find an event to suit, but you can also dive off at tangents and learn about getting the legals right, or brush up on infosec or look at the social impacts of digital and diversity and inclusion too.

And it’s that opportunity to drop in on something you didn’t think you cared about and discover and whole new world of digital activity you’d never scratched the surface of before and wouldn’t normally get a window into that can be really valuable.
